Digital Printing Increases Profits

June 19, 2013

A growing number of commercial printers find it difficult to turn a profit with traditional offset work, especially for short runs. They are looking to expand their services and efficiencies to remain competitive in a crowded marketplace – one of the many reasons to invest in digital press technology.

With digital presses, commercial printers can offer customers high-quality, short run printing with faster turnaround times. They can increase profits by eliminating the labor costs associated with preparing and running an offset press. Job setup time is also drastically reduced and reprints are easier on digital presses.

Additionally, because the print quality on today’s digital press systems is comparable to offset, transitioning to digital is nearly seamless. Konica Minolta’s digital presses offer precise color matching with offset presses using our Color Care technology. This software allows printers to quickly and easily measure and match colors. Color Care allows the printer to choose which output device to use – offset or digital – based on run length, without inconsistencies in image quality.

Digital technology has also enabled commercial printers to expand their services. Many printers are now using variable data printing (VDP) to offer their customers targeted mailing campaigns and other marketing related services. Color digital presses, such as the Konica Minolta bizhub PRESS C8000, are ideal for such jobs. With the bizhub PRESS, commercial printers can offer their customers high quality, variable data printing with faster turnaround times and still end with profitable results to their bottom line.

We see digital presses as a huge opportunity for commercial printers, and we are constantly innovating to help them not only survive, but thrive. The new solutions Konica Minolta is releasing in 2013 are designed to help printers leverage the power of multi-channel marketing to provide new growth opportunities. Stay tuned!
