Ramsey, N.J. and Jacksonville, Fla. - December 31, 2009 -With the official kick-off less than 24 hours away, fans are traveling from around the country to Jacksonville, Fla. for the highly-anticipated New Year's Day Konica Minolta Gator Bowl match-up between the West Virginia Mountaineers and Florida State Seminoles. Both teams are veterans to the Gator Bowl Classic and bring rich football traditions to this exciting annual bowl game, the Mountaineers with a strong regular season record of 9-3 and the Seminoles marking the final game of legendary Coach Bobby Bowden.

Within two hours of announcing the team selections on December 6, 2009, tickets for the 77,000-plus seats at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium were sold out with plans to add temporary bleachers raising attendance to nearly 85,000 on game day. The only other time in the history of the Gator Bowl Classic that the bleachers have been installed was for the 2004 match up between Maryland and West Virginia. Rivals.com's Mike Huguenin rates the 2010 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl third among the 34 college bowl games this season.

The Mountaineers and Seminoles will be meeting in a rematch of the 2005 game from which Florida State left Jacksonville with a 30-18 victory. The 2010 match-up will mark West Virginia's fourth New Year's Day trip to Jacksonville in seven seasons and Florida State's seventh appearance overall. In his final game for Florida State, Coach Bowden will be facing a team he formerly coached as special events are scheduled throughout the day to honor his 34-year run at FSU.

"From the anticipation of the 2010 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl to the festivities surrounding Coach Bowden's final game, there is a great deal of excitement surrounding this year's match-up on New Year's Day," said Kevin Kern, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "Konica Minolta will be in Jacksonville to host the events and looks forward to the outcome of this historic matchup. We also hope that all college football fans will visit www.KMBSsports.com to learn more about the game and follow the game on Twitter @KonicaMinoltaUS to get real-time updates of all the excitement."
