LinkCom III Converts IPDS and SCS/DCA Print Data Streams to Industry-Standard
PCL and PostScript Languages

RAMSEY, N.J. - February 1, 2006 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced the availability of LinkCom™ III from MPI Tech.  The LinkCom III software converts IPDS and SCS/DCA print data streams to PCL or PostScript language.  LinkCom III has been developed to work efficiently within the mixed host/LAN environment, supporting both SNA sessions from IBM systems, as well as TCP/IP sessions from the LAN.  The software also supports Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), making it simple to print across the Internet to any authorized Konica Minolta printer connected to the IP network.

Designed for the easy connection of printers to complex LAN environments, LinkCom III simply attaches to the Ethernet port of the printer and to the LAN.  LinkCom III enables both IBM systems and LAN/PC environments to make full use of the functionality of Konica Minolta's monochrome and color MFPs.  In addition, the software comes standard with the ability to redirect one output to a network-connected printer.  The redirection of three outputs to a network via TCP/IP is available as an option.

"Through LinkCom III, we have opened a new door for our MFP devices.  LinkCom III has provided us with a direct migration path to IBM printing in a LAN-based environment.  We now have the ability to capture the workflow from IBM's enterprise computing technology and support it with our high-speed monochrome and color multifunctional devices with advanced finishing features," said Kevin P. Kern, vice president, product planning and development, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "The relationship with MPI Tech will expand our business opportunities in both front- and back-office environments."
