Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Names Bud Murphy As Executive Vice President, Konica Minolta Direct Sales

KONICA MINOLTA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS U.S.A. NAMES BUD MURPHY AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, KONICA MINOLTA DIRECT SALES

RAMSEY, N.J. - August 31, 2004 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that Joseph (Bud) Murphy has been named executive vice president, direct sales.  Murphy, who previously served as executive vice president, corporate planning, will assume his new position effective immediately and report directly to Yasuo Matsumoto.

In this role, Murphy will oversee the company's network of direct sales branches, pursue growth in key account sales on a local and national level, and continue to manage the integration of the pre-merger direct sales channels.  Murphy succeeds Joe Villanella, who is leaving Konica Minolta Business Solutions to pursue new opportunities.

Murphy began his career with the company in 1983 and rose to the role of executive vice president and general manager of the Business Products Group (BPG) of Minolta Corporation prior to the merger of Konica and Minolta.  He has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in his 21 years, including president of Minolta Business Systems, Inc., a wholly owned sales organization subsidiary of Minolta Corporation, and executive vice president and general manager of the Office Systems Division of BPG.
