Konica Minolta Listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, a Leading Global Index for ESG Investment, for Nine Consecutive Years

Staying on the DJSI Asia Pacific Index for 12 Consecutive Years

Tokyo (December 23, 2020) – Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), one of the most prestigious global indices of ESG investment, for nine years in a row.
Konica Minolta has also been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for 12 consecutive years.

Konica Minolta’s Sustainability Strategy

1. Revising material issues

Konica Minolta newly adopted the following five material issues to be addressed in FY2020:

  • Improving fulfillment in work and corporate dynamism
  • Supporting healthy, high-quality living
  • Ensuring social safety and security
  • Addressing climate change
  • Using limited resources effectively

In identifying these issues, the company analyzed various issues likely to arise in 2030 and assessed the materiality of such issues in view of “social issues that need to be resolved” and “business development of Konica Minolta.”

2. Establishing the Medium-term Sustainability Strategy 2022

Konica Minolta announces the policy of “transforming into a highly profitable business through DX” and “changing itself into a truly social issue-solving company” in DX2022, its medium-term business strategy for the FY2020-2022 period. Under DX2022, the company formulated the Medium-term Sustainability Strategy 2022, in which it declares its commitment to reforming business workflows, and also to the prosperity of society and happiness of people by combining its imaging IoT and digital technologies to make invisible things visible.

Key actions to address the five material issues

Improving fulfillment in work and corporate dynamism As work styles continue to diversify, we are providing solutions that increase productivity and make creativity-inspiring work styles possible in diverse locations — all the while supporting the human quest for purpose in life, improving fulfillment in work, and fostering corporate dynamism.
Supporting healthy, high-quality living Konica Minolta is enhancing the diagnostic function of clinics and other neighborhood primary care settings by providing diagnostic imaging analysis technology that uses AI, and by supporting diagnosis through a network of specialists. In addition, the company is helping to make the workflow at senior-care facilities visible using image analysis and AI to reduce the burden on caregivers. By making it possible to provide more finely tuned long-term care services, Konica Minolta is also helping seniors to remain independent.
Ensuring social safety and security Konica Minolta is providing solutions to enable non-contact and remote monitoring and inspection at factories and plants. By forecasting and predicting trouble or danger in ways that surpass the visual capabilities of frontline workers, the company aims to prevent accidents and ensure the safety and security of factories and surrounding communities.
Addressing climate change Konica Minolta helps corporate clients in the commercial printing industry streamline their operations and reduce energy consumption. Konica Minolta is providing solutions for transforming their workflow while enhancing their productivity, in addition to reducing its own CO2 emissions.
Using limited resources effectively Konica Minolta is contributing to reduced resource consumption by helping corporate clients in the commercial printing industry to shift to on-demand printing. This will eliminate the need for printing plates used in traditional offset printing and reduce customer process inventory.
