Kim Wunsch
Director, Strategic Account Sales – Central Region
Time at Konica Minolta: 25 years
How and when did your story at Konica Minolta begin? Has it changed over the years?
KW: I was very fortunate to start my career at Minolta Business Systems in Houston, TX just a few weeks after graduating from UWEC with a degree in Sales and Marketing at age 22. I remember seeing an ad in the local newspaper for a sales rep position at Minolta so I submitted an application and honestly thought I was going to be selling cameras. I interviewed with Mike Geary who was the Branch Manager at the time and was asked a closing question that I will never forget….”other than the fact that you are not living here yet is there any reason you can’t start Monday?”
25 years ago I was talking with customers about the much anticipated release of our first digital copier and even a full color option. Today….25 years later I am talking with customers about a digital workforce with RPA, security services, automation platforms, IT support, cloud applications, managed services and print technologies that are second to none.
What has kept you at Konica Minolta?
KW: Without a doubt – the PEOPLE.
I have been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by exceptional colleagues and leaders over the past 25 years who have truly embraced the concept of a PEOPLE FIRST mentality. We have some incredible talent at Konica Minolta across all lines of business, always willing to help us and our customers. This teamwork approach and leaders who truly care about our people has been and continues to be the “WHY” for choosing a career at KM.
What has been your biggest learning from all your years of experience?
KW: There are no shortcuts in sales and the formula to success from year one to year 25 has not changed.
What unique skills have you gained thanks to your role at Konica Minolta?
KW: In my role as a rep, I was passionate about perfecting the closing skills and prospecting approach I was taught my first year at Konica Minolta. I was obsessed with the thrill of taking down net new business and embraced the mindset of always finding a way to win. In my current role as a sales leader, I have been on a mission to pay it forward and have been fortunate to learn from some of the best leaders in the business the impact we can have as leaders by focusing on our people first.
How do you envision the legacy you will leave for Konica Minolta?
KW: A passionate sales leader focused on delivering exceptional value to our customers, people and our company
What is your advice for new hires?
KW: Sales is a challenging but very rewarding career. It will not always be easy, in fact you may go days or even weeks without responses after relentless prospecting. DO NOT GIVE UP.
Persistence, discipline and MINDSET should be front and center every day in your approach to the business.
Consistency is KEY and with countless hours of prospecting, rejection, determination, TEAMWORK, collaboration and tunnel vision every single day – YOU WILL WIN.
To my colleagues who are just starting your careers at Konica Minolta, be confident in knowing that you are surrounded by a phenomenal team, AND… passionate leaders who are focused on YOUR success.
Check out the “TOP TEN THINGS THAT REQUIRE ZERO TALENT” and work those into your approach to the business every single day.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
KW: I am blessed with three wonderful children who keep us quite busy with baseball, basketball, football, dance and golf. But, when we have a break from youth sports I love traveling with my family and in summer spending weekends at our lake home in northern Wisconsin.
Maria Krawsek
Manager, Digital WorkPlace & Office Products
Time at Konica Minolta: 38 years
How and when did your story at Konica Minolta begin?
MK: It began in 1985, when I was hired to support a “revolutionary” product called the “PCW.” It was a combination computer (PC) + Word Processor. From there I learned about fax, analog copiers followed by digital copiers and color copiers. The next step was the integration of solutions with the devices and the evolution in the digital transformation that we are currently experiencing. Has it changed over the years? It has changed considerably. From analog to digital, monochrome to black and white, from a mid-size company to a large organization (we’ve merged several times over the years). From a smaller Direct Channel to a larger Direct Channel organization and from smaller dealerships to mega dealerships.
What has kept you at Konica Minolta?
MK: Always learning something new. The product evolution and technology is a constant learning experience and keeps things interesting and new. It’s also the interaction and support of my colleagues – they are a second family. Having been at Konica Minolta for nearly 40 years, you really get to know individuals with longevity and celebrate the good times in their lives as well as support one another during the tough times. It’s a gift to work with so many people that truly care about others and are willing to help and support you.
What has been your biggest learning from all your years of experience?
MK: Keeping up with the technology and working with individuals that can educate you in “layman” terms has been a tremendous asset because it impacts your work and personal life. Keeps me current with what’s going on in the world. I also have to say, learning to adapt to the processes and dynamics of a mid-size organization to a large organization has been an education in itself, especially since global interaction has grown and become so much easier-. It takes on a different meaning today than it did when I started. Through the years, I’ve also had a chance to visit many parts of the U.S. (and a few visits outside of the U.S.), giving me the opportunity to experience the varying lifestyles, nuances in culture and discover interesting facts about the area.
What unique skills have you gained thanks to your role at Konica Minolta?
MK: Adapting to new technologies, new processes, new management/culture, a wide-range of responsibilities, project/product management, collaboration, flexibility and agility to address the “fire” of the day.
How do you envision the legacy you will leave for Konica Minolta?
MK: I hope that people will remember me as a dedicated, hard-working individual that always tried to exceed expectations. That I provided the knowledge and know-how (to the best of my ability) to successfully sell the products and solutions that have come across the Office Products portfolio over the years. I also want them to remember the friendships, the laughs and the adventures.
What is your advice for new hires?
MK: To learn about the company and the products, solutions and services available, not only as it relates to their area of responsibility but how their role and the roles of their colleagues impact one another and the value that the Konica Minolta portfolio offers our customers. Take the initiative to educate themselves on business processes and why they exist, and offer new ideas and suggestions on how things can be improved and more efficient. Work to contribute to the continued strength of the company and have fun along the way.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
MK: Sitting at the beach listening and watching the waves, reading and taking those very restful and peaceful naps! I also like to read (even when not at the beach), exercise (Zumba, Aerobics), go for long walks and spend time with my family and friends.
Cathy Reardon
Manager, Digital Content
Time at Konica Minolta: 34 years
How and when did your story at Konica Minolta begin? Has it changed over the years?
CR: My story started in 1989 at Minolta Business Systems. I was hired as the Administrative Assistant to the VP of Finance, but also supported the VP of Service and the Controller. It wasn’t long (about 5 years) before I began working in IT, where I worked for my first “true” mentor. I had a background in Business Administration and Computer Science so it seemed like a great transition. This new role opened up a world of opportunities. While in IT I handled multiple projects, but the one that had the greatest impact on my career was on a training team that would be supporting the implementation of a new ERP. This training role provided me with so many firsts. The ability to travel all over the country, being able to meet so many amazing people, many of which I still keep in touch with today. The next step in my journey led me to Marketing, where I have stayed for 24 years. I wore many hats in marketing throughout the years, but it wasn’t until I moved into marketing that I realized I was growing a career, it was no longer just a job. My marketing journey brought me to my next mentor, he gave me the confidence I needed to excel in so many wonderful roles. He believed in me, trusted me and always encouraged me, which allowed me to excel.
What has kept you at Konica Minolta?
CR: There are two things that have kept me here this long. First are the people, it’s the single greatest asset this company has. The people that continue to work hard despite the changes, those that always have the company’s best interest in mind and those that remain loyal despite the whirlwind of challenges presented to them. Next is just the dynamics of Marketing. The ever-changing world of Marketing is intriguing because it is always transforming, which means I am always learning and challenged.
What has been your biggest learning from all your years of experience?
CR: Never let anyone take squash your passion. Find that mentor, the one that believes in you in spite of others, the one that always has your back, that will pick you up, dust you off and tell you are the greatest asset to their team. That one person in your work life that believes in you when you do not even believe in yourself.
What unique skills have you gained thanks to your role at Konica Minolta?
CR: I have learned so many hard skills and soft skills throughout the years, but here are the top.
Hard skills
Soft skills
How do you envision the legacy you will leave for Konica Minolta?
CR: That I was a lifetime learner who embraced change. I built teams of future leaders and always made time for others.
What is your advice for new hires?
CR: Find what you are passionate about in your new role. Every position at Konica Minolta has multiple facets. Never be afraid to ask questions and always take the opportunity to listen and learn from those around you. Be empathetic and passionate and embrace change, because it will come.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
CR: I love gardening and take pride in my outdoor space. I am an avid dog lover and truly believe that there is a place for a rescue in everyone’s home.

Kelli McCarthy
Channel Marketing Manager
Time at Konica Minolta: 25 years
How and when did your story at Konica Minolta begin? Has it changed over the years?
KM: My journey began back in 1998 when I was hired by Minolta Business Equipment Canada (MBEC). I will always remember how nervous I was going into my interview and walking out with the biggest smile – I was the newest member of the Minolta family. I met with Marie Novakis, Director of Marketing and Yvon St. Yves, Vice President who were both such a big part of my journey and will always be remembered for their leadership, mentorship and creating such a strong company culture.
Like any organization there will be transitions or bumps in the road. With the mergers, acquisitions, and new leadership teams, Konica Minolta continues to provide a strong company culture. A positive and inclusive company that fosters a sense of belonging, camaraderie and loyalty among employees.
What has kept you at Konica Minolta?
KM: Staying with a company for this many years may be looked at as a rare occurrence these days. For me it’s the people! From the first day I started, I’ve felt valued, challenged and supported throughout my career. The many relationships I’ve built and the sense of being a part of a family is what means the most. I take great pride in telling my story and continue to build new relationships at Konica Minolta.
What has been your biggest learning from all your years of experience?
KM: Personal and professional growth. Konica Minolta has always provided me with the support and confidence to try new things. From the first time I stepped on that stage in front of 100+ people launching one of our newest Fax machines or training customers and employees on solutions such as the late and great Print Groove, I continue to have the confidence to excel and try new things.
What unique skills have you gained thanks to your role at Konica Minolta?
KM: Throughout my career with Konica Minolta, I’ve gained many skills from the different positions I’ve been in. From supporting the Marketing and Service team, to training customers and employees on the various product offerings to product management and event planning. I’ve really learned about all facets of the organization.
The one thing that would stand out to me is being a people person. I thrive in providing guidance and support for anyone that needs it.
How do you envision the legacy you will leave for Konica Minolta?
KM: A passionate role model focused on delivering exceptional value to our people, customers and our company. Also, being that person that would crack the odd joke from time to time to get people to laugh and break out of that serious mindset.
What is your advice for new hires?
KM: Always strive for personal and professional growth. Take advantage of training opportunities to stay updated on industry trends to enhance your skills. It’s also extremely important to take the time to get to know your team members and colleagues from different departments. This will build strong relationships to foster collaboration and create a positive work environment.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
KM: There’s just too many to list. Spending time with my amazing family. This includes my Portuguese Water dog Sydney who keeps me very active, plus traveling on a Harley discovering all the beautiful things this world has to offer. To finish off, gardening is one of my true passions which allows me to reconnect with what’s important.
