RAMSEY, N.J. - March 9, 2005 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that its bizhub C350 business color system received an overall "Four-Star" Field Test Rating from Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), the nation's leading independent office products testing laboratory. As tested with the IC-401 Image Controller, the device was lauded for its image quality, ease of use, productivity and efficiency, and competitive price point.
Ideally suited for medium to high-volume departmental settings - particularly for those users looking to add color to word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications - the bizhub C350delivers the convenience of a feature-rich multifunctional device while offering users the ability to capitalize on the power of color at a cost-effective price.
Recognized by BLI for its overall black and color image quality in both print and copy modes, the bizhub C350 offers a rated speed of 35 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome output, and 22 ppm for color. The bizhub C350 attains its color speed through the use of Tandem Color Processing technology (four-drum engine), which lays down all four colors in one pass through the transport area. Fine Edge Enhancement Technology (FEET) boosts edge resolution for smoother text, and advanced color conversion allows for quality true to the original.
The bizhub C350is offeredwith a standard, built-in PCL Print Controller. For users in graphic-intense environments who are looking for increased color management capabilities, theFiery®IC-401 Image Controller is available with PCL 5c and Adobe PostScript 3 compatibility, and features a 700 MHz Intel Pentium III processor, a 10 GB hard disk drive (HDD), and 128 MB of RAM that is upgradeable to 256 MB.
BLI noted, "The unit performs especially well for first-print times in color mode, generating the fastest speeds of competitive models tested when printing PowerPoint and Photoshop TIFF files, and among the fastest speeds for Acrobat PDF files." BLI also praised the device's document feed (2:2 mode) and job stream efficiencies in black mode as being "among the highest for the group," and found the unit's control panel offers users "tremendous flexibility" in adjusting copy and image quality.
Configured as a copier/printer with PostScript 3 printing, saddle-stitch finishing, duplexing and a reversing automatic document feeder (RADF), the bizhub C350's suggested retail price is "competitive among business color units available." With a 150-sheet capacity, the unit offers the "highest available bypass capacity amongst competitive units, as well as a competitive rated color toner yield." It uses Simitri™ Color Polymerized Toner for sharper text, better halftone clarity, and higher image stability over long print runs. BLI noted, "products that use Simitri toner have consistently high toner yields in BLI's in-house lab tests."
"This device was designed specifically to deliver the next level of excellence in color technology at a price point that makes superior color available for everyday business," said Kevin P. Kern, vice president, product planning and development, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc. "BLI's assessment is confirmation that we did just that."
